Does A Gps Have Parts

Fred BLANCHARD, Fred Duval and Jean-Pierre Pécau, Day J, Volume 3: September Rouge, Paris, Delcourt 2010, 48 p.

Presentation Editor: September 12, 1914. Germany won the decisive battle of the Marne in applying through the invasion plan Schlieffen . On January 9, 1915, French President Poincaré sign the armistice. Refusing the surrender, the Tiger, Clemenceau, supported by his old mobile brigades, left France. With the support of the French fleet, he won Algiers where he organized resistance.

is the third book in the series D-Day in Delcourt, whose second had caught my attention (alternate history of the Cold War, Paris: Soviet sector ). This time, the theme of alternate history is the Great War with a German victory over France in 1914. Well, almost: if the metropolitan area has fallen, this is not the case of colonies, where Clemenceau out of retirement continues to fight, like a De Gaulle in London, with the support of part of the French fleet survivor of the disaster. The Germans installed a monarchy in France to their boots with the offspring of the branch Orleanist. The plot, which grows here on two volumes (Volume 4 is also published in November 2010), revolves around the problem the possible negotiation of Czarist Russia with Germany of Wilhelm II that Clemenceau has obviously prevented. Hence the use of a former Tiger Brigades mobilized in Algeria by the Tigris, the Commissioner Blondin, loaded with his worst enemy, Jules Bonnot , from the Chateau d'If, where he languished since its pseudo-liquidation in 1912, to go help the Russian revolutionaries to bring down Nicolas II ... Occasionally, too, in this first volume, to meet other characters known as the ace French R ené Fonck and his opponent Red Baron, Manfred von Richthofen ...

The big highlight of this volume is undoubtedly scenario, much better built than the Volume 1, for example, and clearly a notch above that of Volume 2. As the story spans two volumes, the scenario has a bit more time to unfold, and it's not worse. Indulgence in contrast compared to Volume 2: uchronic the world is less penetrating , and the authors have worked a little less, there are fewer references in 48 pages too. One has only to compare accounts of events in the two volumes uchronic to realize. The design, meanwhile, is slightly less powerful . Some references are given at end of volume, as volume 2. To follow, therefore, in the 4 to see if the couple in the series and works well if some defects are slightly corrected.

Pregnant Animated Women

Mael and KRIS, Our Mother the War, First complaint, Paris, Futuropolis, 2009, 64 p.

January 1915: three women are killed on the front. On each of the victims, a letter farewell, written by their killer. And if it was the war itself was being murdered? After A man is dead and Cuts Irish , the new grand narrative Kris! Mael: revelation copy of a designer who is now playing in the big leagues!
January 1915, Champagne lousy. It's been six months since Europe is ablaze. Six months since the war carries thousands of deaths daily. But this place is called off because of the forehead, are the bodies of three women who are the subject of attention of the staff. Three women coldly murdered. And they, every time, a letter highlighting. A farewell letter. A letter written by their killer. A letter sealed with mud trench burial unthinkable for those who are symbols of safety and comfort, those are the last bastion of humanity. Roland Vialatte , police lieutenant, Catholic activist, humanist, progressive, leads the investigation. A bizarre investigation. Unthinkable even. Finally, because women ... is impossible. Unimaginable. Any collapse. Or is war itself is being murdered ...
Here a comic about the Great War which is worth seeing. The subject has yet been thoroughly addressed in the comics ( Tardi et al.) The police investigation, which takes place quite slowly in this first volume, is a pretext for a plot that takes war as a backdrop . The design is pretty standard but that does not find it actually quite pretty. The events take place in January 1915, on the Champagne front, period and places it very well exploited. The hero of the story, a policeman , is forced to confront the soldiers and discover the reality of the forehead: the script plays heavily on the ambiguities of the military status " non-military" in the middle of hairy ... description of the experience and behavior of soldiers in the Great War inspired a lot of work Memorial Peronne, also cited at the beginning of the comic. Here in any case a series not to be missed, certainly.

Nacima BARON Yelles and Aurélie BOISSIERE, Atlas of Spain. An incomplete metamorphosis?, Atlas / Monde, Paris, Autrement, 2009, 80 p.

editions other spent last year one of the books in their collections Atlas / Monde the Spain. A country still viewed as ultimately not very important in Europe and the world today, but this is really the case.

Nacima Baron-Yelles recalls in his introduction . Since 1975 and the death of Franco, the country has indeed experienced a profound transformation territorial, economic and social , which accelerated with the entry into the EEC, now EU in the 90s. With European integration in 1986, Spain took advantage of his delay in enjoying an influx EU funds for regional development, while the choice of the euro. The country has even become a model of fiscal restraint in international institutions and an example given for the countries of Eastern Europe that joined the EU in the future. On the political front, Spain has consolidated democracy in applying a degree of decentralization within its autonomous communities , while the state privatize large companies, thus the birth of large industrial groups. To overcome the remoteness of the European megalopolis, the Spain has also developed infrastructure and communication facilities Modern that changed the lifestyle of national cities. However, the 2008 crisis has has curbed an array of bright spots . Unemployment is soaring, growth built on building collapses, territorial authorities reveal their opacity, the asset that was the immigrant labor blocks of innovation, strategic resources such as coastal land are ravaged by speculation . But the dream of building a prosperous Spain, having a say in Europe and internationally, remains a central issue.

A double page is first devoted to Spain, and footbridge crossing the world, and Spain. The following double page presents some historical maps of the country and a chronology of the twentieth century commentary. The atlas is then organized into 5 parts. In the first, Baron-Nacima Yelles details the changes are contemporary English society . The second is devoted to economic changes . The third approach to the territorial changes are . The fourth explains debates and policy issues. The last, finally, attempts to identify the identity and dream English . The atlas, which is obviously a plus, full of maps particularly clear: it was not necessarily the case with all previous volumes of the collection. Here, despite a few cards a little less readable, choice of figures and mapping techniques appears to be highly relevant, it welcomes it.

Ultimately, the geographer dissects this "incomplete metamorphosis" of Spain, 8th largest economy, but only the 14th if we take the HDI as a criterion. She stays late, for example, perspective coverage provided by the social welfare state . It is a long way since 1992 , which has seen the world and see the new Spain: fourth centenary of the discovery of Christopher Columbus, the year of the Universal Exhibition in Seville and Barcelona Olympics . Spain is far away, so far, other European countries in technology and productivity. But the whole history of this country is made of alternating suns and moons, ups and downs. Spain is now in a bottom, where it must invent a new model of development. This development will have to learn to manage scarce resources (water ) or expensive ( imported energy ). The labor force, large and qualified executives must find its measure-less underground economy, precarious and seasonal. Spain also faces the problem of integrating a large foreign population and diverse , the threats posed by global warming, etc.. In all this, civil society, which built the country's democracy, has an important role to play.

We will dig the story using the bibliography provided index. A great volume of the collection Atlas / World among other .

Hunted (The Hunted), William Friedkin (2003) The Giants

Kosovo, 1999. Lieutenant Aaron Hallam (Benicio Del Toro ) , on a mission with his unit of Delta Force must run the Serbian commander of a detachment responsible for bloody massacres against Albanians in the region. Hallam seeps into the mosque in the city and killed with a knife the Serbian leader, but the mass executions which he witnessed his cause in the aftermath of post-traumatic stress order, which literally push him to cut his victim into pieces the day. Returned to the United States and awarded the Silver Star informally because of the secretive nature of his mother unit, the Delta Force , Hallam then performs undercover assignments, but begins to develop paranoia and psychological disorders, believing that the U.S. military wants to delete to remove everything he witnessed. Refuge in the forests of the northwestern U.S., nearly the Pacific coast in the states of Washington and the Oregon , Hallam runs two hunters who turn out to be, in fact, " sweepers" of the CIA . To stop it, it uses LT Bonham, a Special Forces instructor who taught Hallam guerrilla techniques, survival in a hostile environment, which helped him to kill his two pursuers. Bonham, who has never killed a man in spite of the teaching he has brought the future members of Delta Force , therefore working with the team of FBI tasked with tracking down Allam but he soon realizes that he alone can stop, definitively, its abuses ...

Here is a thriller effective, clearly inspired by Rambo , and as it raises the question of the fate of acute veterans of elite special forces who must return to civilian life. The film, quite short (1:30), is mainly for the provision of Tommy Lee Jones always very effective, but perhaps even more than Benicio del Toro , adventurer became very convincing psychopath. And how not to succumb to the shadow of secrecy surrounding the Delta Force and majestic forest landscape in Oregon and Washington ...

West (The Undefeated) Andrew McLaglen (1969)

1865. Colonel John Henry Thomas northerner attack with his cavalry unit of the Confederate infantry to learn after the assault that peace has been signed by General Lee few days earlier, Appomatox . Thomas then left the army and embarked with his surviving men in the capture of a herd of wild horses 3000, it intends to resell the Union. This not only put the price, while Thomas gives his flock to representatives of the Emperor Maximilian of Mexico , head of an unpopular regime challenged by the rebellion of General Benito Juarez. his part, Colonel Langdon, a former colonel of a Confederate cavalry unit, fire his plantation and takes his family and his surviving men to Mexico to continue to honor and traditions of the defeated South. In a hostile country in the throes of revolution, former Union soldiers and Confederate Veterans will have to meet and measure at fair value through the trials that await them ...

The Undefeated (Again, the original title, although more explicit, has been poorly translated into French), is a Western classical style based on the confrontation between John Wayne Rock Hudson and . We expected more, moreover, by Rock Hudson a little pale in front of "Duke . The fans will not be surprised to find most secondary players fetish films of John Wayne. Note the appearance of J. Michael Vincent very young then, and who became famous for playing the lead role in the series Airwolf in the 80s.

The film was made in 1969, when the United States is the most committed in terms of staff, Vietnam : The Vietnamization is yet far off. In this context, it is fashionable to make a film smoothing the rift between North and South created by the Civil War, especially the racial problems related to the claim of civil rights by blacks in the years 60 strike also hit by the U.S. military deployed in the field. The Western gives pride to the "brotherhood of arms " in honor, chivalry, officers from North and South. Yet one of the few to mention Mexico's reign of Maximilian , faces a revolt soon Benito Juarez victorious: the subject is also in other westerns, Vera Cruz (Gary Cooper with and Burt Lancaster, 1955) and Sierra Torrid ( Clint Eastwood, 1970) . The subject itself is derived from true stories, because the generals Confederate Sterling Price and Shelby Jo refugees were well in Mexico after the defeat of the Confederacy.

In short, what a pleasant time, but nothing more.

Plan B And Bladder Infections

Arnaud Blin, Wagram, 5-6 July 1809, the story battles, Paris, Tallandier, 2010, 208 p.

After the volume on the Battle of Hastings written by Pierre Bouet and commented there are few right here, this is the second one that opens this new collection of Tallandier , "The battles in history." It is written by Arnaud Blin , a political scientist rather specialized in the history of conflict and terrorism: he notably wrote a book on Tamerlane and another on the Peace of Westphalia (1648).

For Arnaud Blin, as he explains in his introduction, the Battle of Wagram is stored at the side of Austerlitz or Friedland in decisive battles won by Napoleon. Decisive battles that lead quickly to the policy. Wagram illustrates the phenomenon of war for war, typical of all empires, four years after Austerlitz, where Austria had been defeated with Russia, Napoleon found on the battlefield. But Austria is a different from that of Austerlitz that it was now in front of him at war with France since 1792 and continuously until defeated in Vienna begins at that time to catch up strategy. For the military revolution initiated by Napoleon still haunts the conscience of the Pentagon largely from 2011 through the writings of Jomini or Clausewitz who are directly inspired. 1809 marks a turning point: the Napoleonic war machine is at its peak, but it bogged down in the nest already English Announces "asymmetric warfare" of the late twentieth century and the twenty-first century. Wagram is considered by the author as last great victory of Napoleon , which is already beginning to show some limitations. Arnaud Blin, military victory against Austria is costly to the emperor, as it was forced to fight on two fronts, with Spain, and has upset the balance established in Europe by the Peace of Westphalia of 1648 . U continental hegemonic power does, here in France, is opposed to a hegemonic maritime power: England . Military victory no longer guarantees the political victory: it announces even a "total war" own in the twentieth century. Wagram is the culmination of a campaign over several months. At Aspern- Essling Napoleon was held in check by the Archduke Charles , one of the toughest opponents of the emperor, who also lost one of its brightest Marshals Lannes , killed by a ball. Both versions of the Battle of Wagram, the French side as the Austrian side, are masterpieces of propaganda where we denigrate the mistakes of the opponent in order to highlight his own talents. The Archduke Charles is more likely to emphasize the power of the opposing army to explain its own defeat, whereas the French side, it highlights the genius of Napoleon more than the value of the military confrontation between two men rather than between two human masses.

Ultimately, the Archduke Charles arrives to save his army after Wagram. The losses amount to an entirely 70-80 000 men, probably pretty equal on both sides. The battle was particularly hard for the units most at risk in particular. It was marked by widespread use and devastating artillery, and numerous hand-to-body , giving a face pretty inhumane confrontation. A threshold has been exceeded violence. Wagram does not yet end the campaign: it Znaim, 10 and 11 July, the Austrians suffered their last defeat. The Treaty of Schoenbrunn , signed October 14, spends the Austrian defeat, and will lead to marriage of Napoleon with Marie Louise, daughter of the emperor. Wagram represented component "mass war" a war where wear is also part of English guerrillas. The Archduke Charles still reasons strategist of the eighteenth century: it does not carry its success at Aspern-Essling Napoleon leaves and transfer its entire army on the island of Lobau. Instead, Napoleon, after his defeat, was able to question and learn from its mistakes: concentration in the island of Lobau large battery of artillery and general offensive all along the front during the battle. Paradoxically, the Archduke Charles, one of the best opponents of Napoleon, will be the scapegoat for the defeat at Wagram and will be shelved. Sad fate for a man whose value today is becoming the military qualities.

's book stands out fairly Arnaud Blin markedly from that of Pierre Bouet on Hastings. The maps are numerous, but are less explicit: for the most part, they have the status of forces but without indicating significant movement at the Battle of Wagram in particular. So we just follow his progress. There are no illustrations in the book , unlike its counterpart on Hastings, which is a shame. Where he was appearing more like u No model of the new "battle history " (presentation of the context, forces, conduct of combat, consequences), this volume presents itself as more analysis politico-military developments in the art of war . The approach is different, but not necessarily less interesting. An indicative bibliography can pursue the matter. Expect to see the following volumes of the collection to be sure that quality is maintained!

Poll Results: themes of geo-strategic alliance in 2011

The blog is a little sleep last week due to problems at work beyond my control, but it needs to be managed, unfortunately ...

I take a free moment to u n balance on the survey of possible themes for the geostrategic alliance in 2011.

I note an increasing participation with 52 votes, a score that I had never met previously, but not surprised since the pub had been made by JGP of My Blog Defence, one of my allies, the Alliance website, exactly.

If you look at the results (answers were multiple choice):

1. The work of intelligence services around the world (contemporary issues, history)

2. The situation in Afghanistan, the history of the conflict since 2001

3. (Two proposals tied
a) military history (historiography, current developments, examples)
b) Iran: nuclear power, role in Iraq, Afghanistan
4. Conflicts, tensions, relationships diplomacy in the Caucasus

These 5 proposals have received 20 votes or more and arrive well ahead. The survey is perhaps not very representative, but it does show some interest in the issue of intelligence , and for Afghanistan, which can be easily explained given the commitment of France that theater of operations. Military History as such also creates an interest, which is not displease me. Finally, the Iran and the Caucasus are two regions that carry the votes : Luckily, we have a specialist earlier in the Alliance, when the second, he personally has always interested me, and I do not think only when I look at my " allies."

Thanks to everyone who voted: we now have work to do!

Savior (1998) Predrag Antonijevic

Paris, late 80's. Joshua Rose ( Dennis Quaid ) a Navy, is assigned to protect the U.S. ambassador to France. So he just leave them, a bomb planted by Islamic terrorists sprayed the cafe where were his wife and son. Drunken rage, Joshua enters a mosque and several Muslim kills with his gun, the last being shot by his friend Peter (Stellan Skarsgard ) while trying to shoot Joshua. The two friends, to escape justice, engage in the Foreign Legion , where they assume a new identity. After 6 years, Joshua, still consumed by revenge, decides to enlist as a mercenary in the service of Bosnian Serbs, while fighting against the Bosnian Muslims. Peter follows him. They are assigned to monitor a bridge in a small village, which separates the two camps: Joshua is a sniper while Peter uses a machine gun at the bridge entrance. The latter was killed when her guard down when a girl crosses the bridge, it ends up throwing a grenade into their position. Joshua then kills a young boy who tried to bring back a stray goat on the bridge. During a truce, Joshua joined Goran , the Bosnian Serb under whom he was working. In an exchange of prisoners with the Bosnian Muslims, Goran wants to kill Vera, a Serb raped during her captivity and carrying the child of her tormentors. Joshua kills Goran. Thus begins a desperate race through the war to save Bonie Vera and the child born of the conflict ...

A very good movie (with Oliver Stone production) on a horrific war, where civilians are slaughtered by machine gun or with knives, amid redemption an American abroad in conflict but which is forced to get involved. With a soundtrack by grandiose moments.

Cahiers de l'Alliance geostrategic No. 1: The low-cost wars

's it, it is beautiful, hot: the first volume of books Alliance geostrategic appeared. It addresses a hot topic in the field of defense and strategy: wars low cost. Most of my " allies" have contributed to it, for my part it will be next.

SD, former Blog To Convince , shall provide a detailed presentation on the blog is updating it now: Strategic Lines , you are now in my blogroll , too. In addition, a special blog has been opened for the first book of AGS is here.

Order your eBook for 10 euros 50 only on the publisher's website. The book will be available January 24, 2011, bookstores, and now In Print (Spirit the book) and shopping sites online.

Presentation of the book:

"Yesterday, the war was a luxury and risky. Nothing has changed almost. This " almost" is what has been called "wars low cost." Besides the clash of will, the war is also a transfer of wealth and an extraordinary destruction of resources. It becomes easy to understand that strategies and tactics can low-cost be implemented to spend less and save more. Non-state, by force of events and resources are adapted according to this logic.
And so gradually, the policy could no longer afford to sacrifice men for military operations that are not systematically supported by the population?
technology really controlled and could provide enough to lower costs in many areas, reserving the high technology areas which have a superiority almost certain, at least few years.
The cost of war is subjected to the filter media to the potentially very amplifier. The emergence of war in populations is both one of the "symptoms relief" temporary decline of the state concept, internationally, and the limited financial and human resources to wage a war industry magnitude.
adaptation remains an alternative to relative or absolute decline of the armed forces no longer have the means to wage war industrial costly over time.
Beyond lines of thinking, this book explores the concept of low cost applied to the defense raises the difficult equation to solve: "How preserve the essential, without neglecting the preparation of future? "

geostrategic Alliance is a federation of French-speaking blogs of strategy, defense and geopolitical, which offers monthly themes for reflection and debate. In this first book, produced edited by Stephen Doss, Charles attended Bwele, Victor Smith, William Grandvent, Olivier Kempf, Romain Mielcarek, Pujol and Jean Robert de Saint Florent Victor. "

Along the way, the group meets and stops a jeep driven by Sergeant "Montana" (Aldo Ray) carrying a colonel suffered a traumatic shock following the explosion of a mine, both belonging to the 1st Cavalry Division . Between the sergeant who is tired of fighting and wants to save his colonel, who treated him like a son, and Lieutenant Benson, eager to reach the score 465, then engages in a duel charismatic eventually reunite to storm the ridge means freedom ...

Decal several other war films ( Adventures in Burma with Erroll Flynn for instance) and books on World War II, Men in War (the English title is more revealing than the French translation, as so often) was very badly received by the U.S. military for the depiction of an isolated unit where discipline tends to relax, just a few years after the end the Korean War marked, in fact, by several disasters important for the forces of the United States ( Chosin Reservoir , etc.). Anthony Mann , hitherto confined to rather westerns, signs marking the first war movie, suje which he will return in 1965 with Heroes of Telemark on resistance in Norway and the Battle of heavy water. It is a fable about men facing war, as the title suggests, in a desperate fight against elements that seem inevitable, but the most hardened triumph by the sacrifices of their comrades. The message is not patriotic or warlike quite the contrary. A movie to watch, definitely.

Bruce Joyner and the Reconstruction - Elements (2010)

Did you know that the friend Bruce Joyner had not released a record later this year that just ended there? It is accompanied by a band of fat and a little nag, worry, he always plays both his sole vocal cord valid. The atmosphere is more wok'n roll my left kneecap and Bruce (Bruce is a friend) is globally well enough (it's a good news). The spirits say that it is a rogues disc invent nothing, their minds will say that hopping is a disk that gives an uncontrollable urge to shake his head (it's always a good sign). Despite my lack of discernment (I'm fucking idiot) I think the bouncy spirits are right to be right in this story. There.
