Pregnant Animated Women

Mael and KRIS, Our Mother the War, First complaint, Paris, Futuropolis, 2009, 64 p.

January 1915: three women are killed on the front. On each of the victims, a letter farewell, written by their killer. And if it was the war itself was being murdered? After A man is dead and Cuts Irish , the new grand narrative Kris! Mael: revelation copy of a designer who is now playing in the big leagues!
January 1915, Champagne lousy. It's been six months since Europe is ablaze. Six months since the war carries thousands of deaths daily. But this place is called off because of the forehead, are the bodies of three women who are the subject of attention of the staff. Three women coldly murdered. And they, every time, a letter highlighting. A farewell letter. A letter written by their killer. A letter sealed with mud trench burial unthinkable for those who are symbols of safety and comfort, those are the last bastion of humanity. Roland Vialatte , police lieutenant, Catholic activist, humanist, progressive, leads the investigation. A bizarre investigation. Unthinkable even. Finally, because women ... is impossible. Unimaginable. Any collapse. Or is war itself is being murdered ...
Here a comic about the Great War which is worth seeing. The subject has yet been thoroughly addressed in the comics ( Tardi et al.) The police investigation, which takes place quite slowly in this first volume, is a pretext for a plot that takes war as a backdrop . The design is pretty standard but that does not find it actually quite pretty. The events take place in January 1915, on the Champagne front, period and places it very well exploited. The hero of the story, a policeman , is forced to confront the soldiers and discover the reality of the forehead: the script plays heavily on the ambiguities of the military status " non-military" in the middle of hairy ... description of the experience and behavior of soldiers in the Great War inspired a lot of work Memorial Peronne, also cited at the beginning of the comic. Here in any case a series not to be missed, certainly.
